This project focuses on the development of a Grade 8 nationwide English listening and reading test in Austria. It involves the development of a test concept for the assessment of national education standards for English as a second language, the creation of test specification and item writer guideline documents, and the review of listening and reading tasks. Importantly, as part of the project, a group of English language teachers are trained in item development and review processes. The project is conducted under the auspices of the Federal Institute for Educational Research, Innovation & Development of the Austrian School System (BIFIE).
