The aim of this initiative is to develop a closer working relationship with our international partner campuses particularly with Computer Science related departments and their student societies. In its first phase, the project seeks to build greater connectivity between the Lancaster (UK) and LU-Leipzig (Germany) campuses’ computing student societies, through extra-curricular activities which can foster and enhance their professional development profile, competence and practice. The proposal builds on an already successful implementation of the alumni career talks between Lancaster and partners; and on the established remote connections between the student computing society (Lancaster) and the robotics society (Lancaster-Leipzig). This project aims to set up two events that computing students from both campuses can take part in. The first event will be hosted at Leipzig and the second in Lancaster. The events will be organised by the two computing societies with support and assistance from two members of academic staff. Each phase will be centred around the United Nations’ sustainability goals: https://sdgs.un.org/goals , with later phases involving more of the global campuses of Lancaster University.
