Description

Damn It was a collaborative and international pilot study that identified challenges for and adaptive strategies of informal-settlement communities in Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte (Brazil) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Key findings

In the context of the pandemic in communities, the need to develop, test and implement community-led solutions to enable comprehensive and sustained initiatives which can mitigate COVID-19 effects and impacts on these communities considering livelihood diversity was recognised. COVID-19 threats mostly exacerbate existing interrelated problems.
