Engaging albinism advocates in West Africa in regional collaboration on advocacy and research

Project: Research

Description

This project brings together the leaders of albinism associations from the sixteen countries of West Africa, albinism NGOs and the UN Independent Expert on Albinism in an online meeting to encourage the building of regional relationships.

A series of short ‘exposure visits’ between three key albinism advocates prior to this meeting will enable them to share their experiences and learning during the workshop, and will also have a wider impact on their development as albinism advocates.

Specific and measurable objectives from this project are:
• To lay the foundations for a network of albinism associations in West Africa
• To enable the identification and discussion of issues and priorities on the basis of the expertise and experiences of key stakeholders
• To identify partners for future research collaboration
• To apply our findings from the exposure visits and online meeting in a follow-on project.
