ESRC Impact Acceleration Account: Changing Organisational Flexible Working and Family-Friendly Policy and Practice for Employees in Frontline Roles

Project: Other

Description

£19,548

Layperson's description

Inadequate FFFW policies for front-line employees leads to parents and carers down-skilling or exiting the workforce, impacting well-being, employment, and the UK economy. In collaboration with NHS Northwest R&D and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, we address urgent needs for flexible working solutions for front-line roles. Through these partnerships, we will enable organisations to attract and retain these crucial employees while creating inclusive cultures spanning job roles. Over a 12-month period, we will undertake a participatory action learning approach in collaboration with our partner organisations, to trial, adapt and reform our existing research-led guidance originally focused on office-based employees. Based on the insights attained, we will design a bespoke toolkit focused on enabling managers to embed flexibility within roles which have historically had limited access to such practices. We will promote our findings at parliamentary events to inform policy implementation and change and cultivate networks for future funding bids.
