Foreign language reading for academic purposes

Description

This empirical study looked into the relative contribution of three factors to academic reading: academic language knowledge, metacognitive knowledge, and perceptions with regard to academic reading. The extent to which each of these factors predicts academic reading was investigated for reading in a first and in a foreign language, and for reading subject-specific and non subject-specific texts. In addition, first language academic reading was also investigated as a predictor for foreign language academic reading.
