Gender in Cultural Practice

Project: Other

Description

This is a research project with colleagues at the University of Groningen (Netherlands) and Lancaster University funded primarily by the Dutch government. It involves 3 interdisciplinary conferences and reading group meetings between 2005 and 2007 based on the themes of:

(1) Sacred and Profane Identities: Gender and the Expression of Selfhood;

(2) Home and Memory: Gender and the Representation of Home; and

(3) City and Countryside: Gender and the Practice of Urban Culture.

With Judith Vega (Philosophy dept, University of Groningen), I am the co-convenor of the third conference 'City and Countryside: Gender and the Practice of Urban Culture' with Janet Wolff as keynote speaker. This will be held at the University of Groningen in November 2007 and we will be co-editing a collection based on the papers presented.
