Inclusion of Learners with specific learning difficulties in teaching English as a foreign language : A teacher training project for Sri Lanka

Description

The project will educate ca. 100 English language teacher trainers all over the country on how to identify learners with dyslexia and how to support them in the English language classroom. They will also be given training materials and offered to free resources and professional development opportunities available in this field. The long term aim of the project is to raise the awareness of all English language teachers in the country through these teacher trainers.

The project will also train a cross section of English teachers in Sri Lanka to identify how successfully the inclusive practices can be implemented at school level. Moreover, it will attempt to raise awareness among school principals, policy planners and language testing body of the country of the importance of incorporating inclusive practices in policy, curriculum design and high-stakes exams.
