Together with other international experts on Elfriede Jelinek and focused around the Elfriede Jelinek Research Centre at the University of Vienna, this project began with an week of interdisciplinary events to celebrate the sixtieth birthday of the Nobel Prize-winning author and will culminate in the publication of a volume addressing the issue of intermediality and Elfriede Jelinek's oeuvre. My contribution will consider three versions of the same material: the 'original' radio play, the novel, and the film version of Elfriede Jelinek's 'Die Ausgesperrten'. It will explore what impact the various media have on the aesthetics and will provide textual comparison and illustration.
