P9004c RIU Extension Phase:Armyworm Control Commercialisation Plan

Description

This project is an extension of DfID's Research Into Use Best Bets project SAACO. It's aim is to develop SpexNPV baculovirus into a commercial biopesticide for use in Tanzania against the African armyworm, Spodoptera exempta. The project is led by Crop Bioscience Solutions Ltd., in Tanzania and includes the Natural Resources Institute of the University of Greenwich as a key collaborator. It has resulted in the construction of a biopesticide production facility in Arusha, Northern Tanzania, and the most recent phase of the project aims to start of processing of raw SpexNPV material into a formulated product that can then be registered and sold.
