Why did the Greeks present 'first-fruits' and 'tithes' to the gods, and what did their behaviour tell us about their religious world-views and presuppositions? This project examines a ubiquitous yet little studied aspect of ancient Greek religion, the offering of so-called ‘first-fruits’ (aparchai) and ‘tithes’ (dekatai), form the Archaic period to the Hellenistic.
