Students Careers and Alumni Experiences

Project: Other

Description

The University's alumni are a relatively untapped fund of knowledge about how to use to best effect one's university experiences, academic and extra-curricular, to gain good first jobs and better ones later. This project will survey a wide range of alumni and distil their experiences of the transition from university to the world of work. We aim to increase knowledge of the benefits and challenges of extra-curricular activity engagement in order to understand how students can make best use of their ECAs in their career planning. The project will provide rigorous quantitative and qualitative evidence to inform Lancaster university’s activities and strategies aimed at increasing student employability. We shall pay particular attention to disseminating our results, advice and case studies in the ways best suited to the needs of our students, CEEC, Alumni Office and departmental careers and admissions tutors.
