The VIEW Project is an international collaboration involving researchers from Lancaster University (UK), the University of Tübingen (Germany), Pennsylvania State University (USA), and the University of Hawai’i, Manoa (USA). The objective of the project is to investigate the potential contribution of textual enhancement in promoting second language acquisition in a computer-based learning environment. In addition to investigating the effectiveness of different types of enhancement, we are also looking into the role of individual differences (working memory, personality, motivation, learning style, etc.). The linguistic focus is L2 English, L2 Spanish, and L2 German. In addition to classic behavioral tasks, the project also involves the use of eye tracking. For more information on the iCALL systems we are using, including technical reports, please see Detmar Meurers’ VIEW and WERTI pages.
