Sale Grammar college visited Lancaster University Chemistry department for an outreach day featuring a lab activity (Aspirin masterclass) and a career oriented talk. The aspirin masterclass lab activity features the pH titration of acetic acid and aspirin; the isolation of aspirin from a tablet by precipitation and analysis of the isolated aspirin by TLC and IR spectroscopy.
