A two-day hybrid workshop. The workshop aims to investigate and develop approaches for interacting with biomaterials and define a research agenda that enables a shift towards developing ‘living’ material ecosystems.

The first day is an in-person practical workshop, which will introduce a strategy and prototype system for interacting with bio-materials (mycelium). Participants will come away with knowledge in hardware, digital-hardware communication/interfacing, documentation, bio-material preparation/hacking and design implications.

The second day will bring together academics in a hybrid format. Talks from Prof. Phil Ayres (CITA), Richard Beckett (UCL Bartlett) and Prof. Martyn Dade-Robertson (Northumbria University) will centre around bio-design, architecture, fabrication and how these futures move towards developing mutually beneficial ecologies.
