Communities in Control: Qualitative data analysis workshop

Activity: Other activity typesTypes of Public engagement and outreach - Festival/Exhibition

18/09/2019

The involvement of members of the public and other stakeholders in research is
important to make sure the research is asking the right questions, in the right
way and that the findings are relevant to the public and benefit society at large.
The experience of participating in research can also help develop the research
skills of those who take part.
During this session, we will provide basic training on qualitative (descriptive)
data analysis and practical experience of analysing data. You will look at extracts
of interview transcripts where Big Local board members are describing their
experiences and use your unique perspective to interpret what the data says. All
transcripts are anonymised so that areas and individuals are not identifiable.
You will also be influencing the interpretation of the data gathered through the
Communities in Control study at an early stage in the analysis process. This will
help to produce learning from the research that is more likely to be useful for
other Big Local area
