Concubines Past, Present, and Future

Activity: Talk or presentation typesPublic Lecture/ Debate/Seminar

13/03/2023

This talk highlights how gender inequalities are particularly consistent over millennia in sexual and marital relationships, and can be traced into the present day in systems of concubinage across the world. I will talk about how researchers, anti-concubinage activists, legal teams and human rights groups have been working together to envision a world without concubines and why this is so pivotal in addressing wider social, cultural, racial, and economic inequalities.
