FRENCH AND SPANISH FILM DAY. "UN P’TIT TRUC EN PLUS" AND "CAMPEONES", LESSONS LEARNED ON INCLUSIVITY IN FRANCE AND SPAIN
Activity: Participating in or organising an event types › Participation in workshop, seminar, course
The School of Global Affairs invites French and Spanish students to explore inclusivity and diversity in contemporary society through two dramatic comedies that highlight the challenges that disabled people overcome. The two films address social issues and acknowledge valuing diversity, resilience and integration. "Campeones" is based on the real story of the Valencian basketball team Anderes Burjassot which won twelve championships between 1999-2014. "Un P’tit truc" is about a son and his father who find refuge in a summer camp for young adults with disabilities to escape from the police and pose as a resident and his educator. The event will encourage students to analyse the film of choice in the light of inclusivity in today’s society, discuss points of view, draw parallelisms with other films and reflect on their own experiences. Students will also learn about recent changes to inclusivity in both Spain and France through new legislation, inclusive education, improved accessibility, social platforms and support platforms.
