The aim of this conference is to further our understanding of the various meanings and practices that can be attached to the term 'friendship' bith in different social and cultural contexts and historical periods of international and transnational relations. The panel elaborates on the concept of friendship in IR, its values and justifications, and idetifies a criteria of friendship. It seeks to establish a workable definition for friendship within the context of International Relations.
