African Phenology Network: Working towards coordinated phenology monitoring in Africa
Bismark Ofosu-Bamfo
Phenology refers to the timing of life cycle events in plants, animals and nature in general (e.g., climate). Phenology has implications on ecosystem balance, food resource availability, and human wellbeing. Phenology monitoring involves establishing the pattern of events and understanding the factors that drive them. This is best appreciated with long-term and multisite data which cannot be obtained without coordinated efforts. The African Phenology Network has been working to provide this coordination needed to sustain phenology monitoring in Africa and encourage it’s use for ecological forecasting. Join us in this seminar, where I share about the work of African Phenology Network towards coordinated phenology monitoring in Africa.
