As the Study Abroad lead at Lancaster School of Architecture, I initiated and led the development of a strategic partnership with Aarhus School of Architecture (AAA), marking a significant European collaboration for our school. AAA stands out as a prestigious institution, consistently ranked among the top 100–150 universities globally and within the top 25 in the EU, renowned for its research quality and degree programmes. Specifically, AAA is ranked #140 in QS World University Rankings and #110 in THE's list of 'Most International Universities in the World.' Notably, QS is evolving its Study Abroad ranking criteria to emphasise the diversity of international student cohorts, rewarding institutions with diverse study abroad cohorts. This shift aligns with our partnership goals amidst changing immigration policies and increased international competition.
My role involved strategic planning and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to align both institutions' goals. I coordinated with Lancaster's Global Experiences team to develop an internal proposal, ensuring a seamless integration of academic curricula and exchange logistics. By managing communications and fostering relationships, I facilitated mutual understanding and set the foundation for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Student Exchange Agreement, enhancing the educational opportunities available to our students.
