Death and Transitional Criminal Justice My paper locates the cultural life of death in punishment in the context of transitional criminal justice. There will be certain expectations of punishment and justice that exist in post-dictatorial and post-conflict societies. I am especially interested in the manner in which the country ‘exits’ the dictatorship, and whether this has any broader implications for the place of death in punishment in national legal discourses.
