First volume of Pevsner Project results published

Press/Media: Research

Description

From 2004 to 2007 the Department of History was home to the 'Buildings of England' project's north-west England team, when they were revising and expanding the 'Pevsners' for Lancashire and Cumbria. The Department welcomed the two researchers, Clare Hartwell and Matthew Hyde, as Honorary Research Fellows and provided them with an office base here. The first of the two volumes they worked on during their association with Lancaster has now been published. Clare Hartwell's Lancashire: North now provides an up-to-date and greatly expanded survey of the architecture of the whole of 'mainland' Lancashire from Southport and Chorley northwards. It will be launched at an event in Lancaster on 26 March. Full details of the book can be found on the Yale University Press website.

The Cumbria volume is due to be published next year.
