Is a shrinking and narrower HE inevitable?

Press/Media: Expert Opinion

Description

UK higher education is in distress. Most universities appear to be in deficit and responding in the only way they know how, citing external factors while lacerating staff numbers, disciplinary breadth, and other functions. While this might address some immediate balance sheet woes, it fails to resolve many underlying tensions and will have wide-ranging, long-term  – primarily negative – effects.
