Roy Parker has recently been awarded his PhD in the department for his thesis on upland textile communities in East Lancashire in the late 19th century supervised by Dr Michael Winstanley. Roy is a mature student who had returned to study initially through the Department of Continuing Education. The external examiner was Terry Wyke of Manchester Metropolitan University.
