Travel grant awarded to Emma Vickers

Emma Vickers has been awarded a travel grant from the Palm Centre, a think tank at the University of California, Santa Barbara which produces scholarship designed to enhance the quality of public dialogue about critical and controversial public policy issues. Since 1998, the Centre has been a leader in commissioning and disseminating research in the areas of gender, sexuality, and the military.

Emma will use the award to attend the 'New Perspectives on the Second World War' conference which is being held at the University of Calgary this autumn. She will be presenting a paper which discusses homosexuality and military authority in the British Armed Forces during the Second World War.
