TRT World Live News: Austria Snap Poll

Press/Media: TV Interview/Appearance

Description

An interview with TRT after Sebastian Kurz dismissed FPÖ politicians and called a new election for September 2019. The interview discusses the aftermath of the secretly filmed 'Ibiza video' in which the Freedom Party leader (Heinz Christian Strache) was seen to be offering large-scale contracts to a woman passing herself off as the niece of a Russian oligarch. Strache focused his attention immediately on presenting this a drunken antic and announced that he would set out to expose the people who used such 'dirty campaigning'.

This interview precedes the vote of no confidence on Monday 27 May as a result of which Kurz's government was required to step down. An interim government will now be in place until the new elections.
