Research overview

My current research explores the governance of social media platforms and analyses the practicality and sufficiency of applying International Human Rights Law to the online sphere.  It will analyse current/emerging policies and legislation relating to the function of online platforms and their abilities to govern, moderate and censor content.

Additionally, my research will look at the human-rights based and self-regulatory actions adopted by social media companies.  The extent to which users’ rights to freedom of expression and access to information are enabled, protected and also restricted through legitimate and necessary means, will also be scrutinised.
