Research overview

My research interest focuses on professional/administrative staff roles in higher education, often characterised by work at points of intersection of academic and professional practices.  My study is using an exploratory case study approach in the Irish higher education context to examine the perceptions and expectations of staff in terms of career experience, aspirations and development pathways:

  1. To what extent do higher education administrators identify as professionals?
  2. In what ways do higher education administrators relate their work and identity to a higher education career development trajectory?
