My Role

I have taught in the Law School since 2012 and have taught across the LLB course.  In December 2016 I was appointed the Law Clinic Supervisor for the Law School with the responsibility of setting up and designing a Legal Advice Centre under our recently formed Law Clinic. This involves running a legal advice centre on campus and in Lancaster City Centre where supervised student advisors give advice on real issues.  We also work closely with Oak Tree House an organisation which supports the homeless in running a pop up law clinic in the community.  We are looking to expand our partner organisations in particular to work with local firms of solicitors and community organisations.

Within the Law Clinic umbrella is our Miscarriages of Justice clinic which involves the students taking on cases and studingy wrongful criminal convictions, with a view to referral back to the Court of Appeal via the Criminal Cases Review Commission. I manage this clinic and supervise the students' case work.

I also provide employability and careers advice to students who wish to purse legal careers. This includes providing CV workshops, employability masterclasses, mock interviews and a careers clinic for the law students.

I also have experience in teaching in FE colleges and in teaching on the Legal Practice Course.  I am an experienced trainer and have trained social workers and solicitors in legal issues, practice and procedure.
