Research overview

I’m interested in health care discourses from a linguistics perspective and am currently writing my PhD thesis about metaphors in discourses of menopause. I apply critical metaphor analysis to find representations of menopause in the form of metaphor scenarios.
I work with English and Danish data, occasionally using my knowledge of German and Swedish. @Pernajl on Twitter is my preferred channel for academic networking.

I also support the data sharing initiative #ReframeCovid and am interested in metaphors in relation to health in general.

The network of metaphor researchers in Scandinavian languages is a forum that connects me tometaphor enthusiasts in the Nordic countries and there are many interesting blogposts about metaphor on https://www.metnetscandinavia.com/

My MA dissertation focused on how the relationship between the doctor and patient was represented in the patient information leaflet for medicines in England. The corpus consists of package leaflets for pharmaceutical prescription drugs.
