And a amount of £5,000 awarded for the project titled "Advancing Palliative Care in Ghana: Development of a National Policy through Collaborative Partnerships" addresses the urgent need for comprehensive palliative care in Ghana. Led by Dr. Yakubu Salifu from Lancaster University and COMPASS-Ghana, the initiative aims to create a sustainable, culturally sensitive palliative care policy. With 86% of Ghanaians lacking access to meaningful palliative care and an average age of death at 63, this project involves government agencies, healthcare institutions, families of palliative care patients, and civil society organizations. The goal is to improve the quality of life for patients and families, aligning with global health equity goals and enhancing palliative care practices in Ghana and beyond.
