This research project is funded by the ESRC. The intent is to perform semi-structured interviews with professional project managers from industry, to ascertain the issues arising from the human element of complex software project implementations. Following these interviews, the data will be analysed qualitatively, and used as the basis to design, develop and calibrate an agent-based computational model. This model will then be used to simulate human interactions within complex software implementation projects, and to generate hypotheses on how to increase the likelihood of project success.
