Catalysing Innovation: Practices, Procesesses and Evaluations of Open Innovation

Project: Research

Description

Catalyst organisations play a critical role in supporting the advancement of ideas as they take shape and become valuable market offerings. This can take place in multiple domains, but in this research we focus on two: 1) bioscience catalysts that move new scientific discovery towards a multi-billion dollar global drugs market, and 2) government catalysts that enable novel research to connect with and inform innovative government policy. Our research addresses three essential areas of concern for catalyst managers and investors:
1) how can catalyst managers co-develop their business model to offer real value to their entrepreneurs, scientists, and policymaker clients?
2) how can catalyst managers develop effective marketization processes to bring together emerging ideas and markets to generate value;
3) how do managers of catalysts evaluate, legitimise, and sustain their catalysing practices?
