Closing the door on Veteran Impunity

Project: Research

Description

This project involved a research trip to U.S. archives to look into the legislative history of proposals to close the "jurisdictional gap" that prevented U.S. courts for prosecuting former members of the U.S. armed forces for crimes that they had committed overseas while in military service. The research significantly contributed to my monograph titled American Immunity: War Crimes and the Limits of International Law, to be published by the University of Massachusetts Press.
