This joint research project with Professor Jenny Andersson, Sciences Po University, Paris (http://www.sciencespo.fr/futurepol/en/content/jenny-andersson), will bring together an international multi-disciplinary group of specialists. The ‘Futures’ network will result in a co-edited collection of essays that will focus on two broad fields: (1) ‘Making the Future’ will debate and critique fundamental notions relating to how the future may be changed by human intervention through emergent areas of science, technology and design: in particular, through the uses of advanced materials and nanotechnology, robotics and autonomous systems. (2) ‘Predicting Future Worlds’, will consider in particular how futurity is embedded in contemporary processes of futures expertise such as forecasts and scenarios, geopolitics, and economics.
