Gender and Science through the Archives of the Freshwater Biological Association

Project: Research

Description

Non-funded ongoing project. Claire Waterton collaborating with Wallace Heim, Mark Toogood (UCLAN) and the Freshwater Biological Association, Cumbria.

Layperson's description

This is a project that is examining the personal archives of women freshwater scientists that have been donated to their previous place of work: the Freshwater Biological Association, based at Far Sawry, Windermere. The project aims to understand more fully the nature of gender, race, colonial/parochial science and landscape (in this case, in the English Lake District).
