This Memorandum of Understanding seeks to set out the joint commitment of Marie Curie and Lancaster University to seek closer collaborative working in the field of healthcare research, innovation, education and training.
The Parties have each benefited from a range of collaborative activities over several years.
This document further builds on the existing collaboration to formalise the Parties’ aspirations of developing and establishing a closer working relationship for the benefit of both parties. This MOU does not create and should not be construed as having created, any form of contractual or other legally binding arrangement between the parties. Rather, the Parties recognised a common interest and ambition to collaborate in:
- Supporting palliative and end of life care research at Lancaster University, Marie Curie
Hospice in Liverpool, and the locality
- Driving and facilitating collaborative funding bids and projects
- Enhancing processes for joint working, such as mutual honorary appointments and
research governance
- Support opportunities to engage health and social care professionals and the public
with research across North West England

- Identify opportunities for staff at both parties to work collaboratively

- Cross-functional teams across all parties
Marie Curie and Lancaster University intend to work together on a wide range of activities to further the above areas of mutual interest.
I have led the development of a Memorandum of Undersatnding agreement between Lancaster University and Marie Curie. The collaboration aims to improve research, teaching and engagement between the organisations.
