SCIE Knowledge Review: Commissioning Person Centred Cost Effective Local Supports for People with Complex Needs

Project: Other

Description

Concern has been expressed about the extent to which some people with learning difficulties are supported in 'out-of-area' placements. In response to this, SCIE have commissioned a consortium led from Lancaster University to undertake a 'Knowledge Review'.

The review will summarise what is known about the scope of the issue, and the factors that lead to people being supported in 'out-of-area' placements. To do this, we want to consult as widely as possible with people with learning difficulties, family carers, practitioners, managers and policy makers. We want to know:
What is the scope of the 'problem'?
Who is at risk?
What are the outcomes and costs?
Why do people get placed 'out-of-area'?
What is being done to address this issue?
What is happening that makes it more difficult to address this issue?
