This is a pilot development and impact project to support children in 7 primary schools in the Morecambe Bay area to develop a story based on an event/setting/fact in their local area. The project seeks to develop children's learning of oracy and literacy by engaging them in a place-based, locally relevant topic of their choice which they turn into a story, to be published and used as curriculum resource for literacy and language lessons.
This pilot project is part of the Morecambe Bay Curriculum initiative. It seeks to make the school curriculum more relevant and literacy learning more engaging. The project includes children and teachers learning about storytelling and writing skills, local research and the production of a booklet of all stories.
