Data files contained within this folder are detailed below. For both the Glasgow to Edinburgh via Falkirk Line and the Preston to Lancaster section of the West Coast Main Line: 'xx_raw.geojson' This contains the raw data for the railway lines generated using overpass turbo, with data gathered from OpenStreetMap. © OpenStreetMap contributors This data is available under the Open Database Licence. Please see www.openstreetmap.org/copyright. 'xx_lon_lat.txt' This file contains the processed data from 'xx_raw.geojson' which has been lineraly interpolated to combine the multiple data points for the rails in the selected lines into a single continuous path of geographic coordinates that traces the line. Columns are geographic longitude followed by geographic latitude. 'xx_blocks.xlsx' This spreadsheet details the number, location and length of each track circuit block in the line. These were estimated using the Network Rail Section Appendix (https://www.networkrail.co.uk/industry-and-commercial/information-for-operators/national-electronic-sectional-appendix/) and information from live signalling information map Traksy (https://traksy.uk/live/). 'xx_block_lon_lat.txt' This shows the geographic coordinates of connections between each track circuit block. Columns are geographic longitude followed by geographic latitude. 'xx_blocks_angles.txt' This file shows the length and orientation of the track circuit blocks. Columns are length (in km) followed by angle (in radians). Note: the angles are defined such that eastwards is zero degrees with an increasingly positive value for northwards and an increasingly negative angle for southwards.
