I organised the visit for a visiting researcher from the USA, to discuss their work, when he visits Lancaster Medical School with on Thursday 17th August.
Christian Goodwin is a researcher, a US-UK Fulbright scholar (2019), a TEDx speaker and is currently a final year medical student at The University of North Carolina School of Medicine. In 2019 , as part of his UK-US Fulbright Fellowship, he completed a Masters in public health at the University of Liverpool, which involved research on end-of-life and long-term care in the UK. Christian is interested in a career in psychiatry and wants to learn about how care is delivered for seriously ill people in community settings. He also wants to understand more about our healthcare system in general and how it compares in design, and delivery, to the USA.
Christian visited the UK to conduct a 3-week travelling fellowship to research ‘digital inequality in palliative care digital legacy’. I was his supervisor for the 3 week period. He undertook clinical placements in hospital, hospice, GP and homeless outreach. He traveled to Lancaster Medical School on Thursday 17th August 2023 to see the campus, and he met researchers to learn about their work and the work and the culture of the University.
