Seeing the spaces in between: Philosophical perspectives for exploring spatial configurations in games

Activity: Talk or presentation typesOral presentation

3/09/2021

As part of a broad exploration of More-than Human Centered Design approaches to address design for the Internet of Things (IoT) this paper presents the usage of a unique spatial model designed to facilitate object-oriented perspectives of IoT through a board game. The Internet of Things Board Game was designed to explore this inter-spatial model of interactivity between human and non-human objects, by presenting a philosophical appropriation of Michel Foucault’s concept of heterotopias or places of otherness. Through these heterotopic perspectives unique spaces are imagined between humans and non-humans in the IoT
