Career Details

I joined DELC as a Senior Teaching Associate in Spanish in 2011. Prior to this I was a part-time Lecturer in Spanish at Manchester Metropolitan University, a Lecturer in Spanish at Bournemouth University and Northumbria University, and a Senior Lecturer in Spanish at Northumbria University. Following my departure from Northumbria, I worked as a Teaching Fellow in Spanish at the University of Exeter between 2009-2010.

Current Teaching

SPAN100: Course convenor of First Year Intensive Spanish. Teaching Oral/Aural Skills.

SPAN101: Course convenor of First Year Advanced Spanish. Teaching General and Writing Skills.

DELC215: Course convenor of Language and Identity in France, Germany and Spain. Delivering lectures and seminars on linguistic identity in the Spanish-speaking world, with a focus on Spain.

SPAN300: Course convenor of Final Year Spanish Oral Skills. Teaching Oral/Aural Skills.

SPAN301: Course convenor of Final Year Spanish Written Skills: Teaching Translation English>Spanish.

DELC320: Dissertation supervision.

DELC423: Course convenor of Introduction to Liaison Interpreting (MA in Translation). Teaching Liaison Interpreting English<->Spanish.

Research Interests

Pragmatics, sociolinguistics, second language acquisition, interpreting. Legal, medical and literary translation.
