Research overview

Chris Ford is committed to undertaking research that has real-world impacts both as an outcome of the work, and as a part of the research process itself. Chris engages in long term relationships with organisations, in order to both support their innovation work, and study it to generate new academic and professional insights. Chris is primarily interested in value creation and evaluation in collaborative or open innovation projects, in particular where a complex mix of financial, social, technological and environmental value needs to be understood and accounted for.  To date this work has engaged with national and regional governments, major charities, royalty, big pharma, nuclear, blue-chip financial service companies, universities and telecoms organisations in the UK, Europe, US and Asia. Chris' research has been published in world leading management and innovation journals, including Journal of Management Studies, R&D Management, Industrial Marketing Management, European Management Review and The Design Journal; He has also authored or co-authored multiple specialist publications on innovation and management topics for the Institute of Chartered Accountants, regional governments, and the Government Digital Twin Hub.
