Research overview

Sue’s research interests are in global change ecology, focussing on how land use, land management and climate change affect ecosystem function.

Sue’s current research project is funded by Defra, and looks at the potential to manage UK grasslands to provide multiple ecosystem services of carbon storage, nutrient retention and biodiversity, alongside viable levels of productivity.  Other projects look at the effects of vegetation change and climate warming on carbon dynamics in peatlands, and characterising landscape methane emissions.

Sue is also Associate Director for the online CPD programme ‘Food Challenges for the 21st Century.
