Award was created in memory of Professor Richard Whipp and is designed to reward the course of a career within the Business and Management field. Professor Sparrow was nominated for his important and internationally recognised body of work on HR strategy, global resourcing and talent management, which has influenced HR practice around the world. The Awards Committee noted that he had considerably enhanced the field of International HRM, led major national academic initiatives, including founding the Journal of Organizational Effectiveness: People and Practice, and ran a major centre to improve engagement with practice. They. considered that he also provided effective service to the IHRM community via his research centre, major editorial work, conference organizing and research and consultancy.
