CoNEXT 2015 Best Paper Award

Prize: Prize (including medals and awards)

Vasileios Giotsas (Recipient)

Our research paper "Mapping Peering Interconnections to a Facility" has won the best paper award at CoNEXT 2015 (The 11th International Conference on emerging Networking EXperiments and Technologies), a top-tier research conference organized by the Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group on Data Communications.

The paper introduces and evaluates a new algorithm that pinpoints the building(s) over which a peering interconnection is established based on traceroute paths and public data on co-location facilities. Localizing the peering interconnections at the facility level enables the development of high-resolution Internet maps that can significantly increase the transparency of traffic flows and elucidate the peering ecosystem.
