Abstract

We consider the problem of defining a measure of association between multiple point processes. Motivated by the idea of neuronal synchrony between the spike train signals, we propose a measure of functional synchrony based on the convolution of the processes. We show that allowing for flexibility in the choice of the kernel functions leads to the formulation of the problem as a penalised functional CCA (canonical correlation analysis).
