Abstract

We investigate the effect of partial customer based vehicle relocation on the performance of one-way electric carsharing systems. According to the proposed scheme customers are offered incentives to accept deviations over their preferred pick-up and drop-off locations, and pick-up time. Through the proposed scheme we seek to achieve a better balance between demand and supply while reducing the need for costly personnel based vehicle relocation. We report results from the analysis of different scenarios generated by varying the level of: i) deviation from the preferred trip characteristics, ii) the corresponding incentive levels, and iii) the underlying business model.
